THE STORY OF NYAI BAGELAN
Long time ago, there were two kingdoms in the region of Kedu Regency, Central Java, which is not known many people. The first Kingdom was commanded by government leader that was quite respected at that time. The other was lead by Batara Wisnu descent that has had already came long from the sky and became in authority in earth side of Java land. Both kingdoms live happily and peacefully. There had never ever had a fight or war between them, not even a small fighting or any conflict.
The first Kingdom was located in the region of Kelir mountain. It was leaded by a wisdom majesty from the upper class. His name is Awu Awu Bumi and his son is Awu Awu Langit. And the other one is lead by Batara Wisnu descent located in the region center of Kedu Regency at this time. The people lived peacefully and wealthily, in Java proverb known as Gemah ripah loh jinaw, leaded by Wertikandayun, one of Batara Wisnu’s sons.
One day, the majesty Awu Awu Bumi died because he was sick and old. In the meantime, it was not very long after that, majesty Wertikandayun passed away too. Since then, the relationship among the kingdom was practically broken in a long time. It because of each descent both didn’t have any ambition or will to lead their kingdom. They have the same goal, they don’t want to be crowned as the next generation in their kingdom. Awu – Awu Langit wanted to be an ordinary village man and Nyai Mas Roro Rengganis from Kedu Kingdom wanted to become housewife. She was from heaven world and really liked to weave. So, as her hope and will since in a long time, she became the famous and beautiful weaver in the Java land at that time. She preferred that one to being a pretty queen which is honored and loved by her people.
Their behavior had caused the descent of their kingdom broken which was finally handed to the people. Awu – Awu Langit is a brave man which is fond of farming. He is good in farming and has found a good way in planting. That’s why many people followed his way and learned to him how to farm well. It made him known in a short time. This news is heard by Nyai Roro Rengganis and she felt fond of him. Her admiration has put her to fall in love with him.
